The Law, Policy, and Engineering (LPE) initiative supports the cultivation of multidisciplinary teams to catalyze innovative, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary research at the intersection of law, policy, and engineering. 

Seed Funding

IdeaLab Proposals

LPE will distribute $5,000 in seed funding to support up to five "IdeaLabs" to initiate and support new, collaborative relationships across Penn State. "IdeaLabs" should bring together individuals from different disciplines to interact in an intensive way, learn from one another, create an integrated vision for future research projects at the intersection of law, policy, and engineering, and identify funding opportunities for such projects.

The submission deadline is noon ET on November 28. Proposals should be submitted by email to LPE Associate Director Christine Kirchhoff at cxk475@psu.edu and should use the subject line "LPE IdeaLab Application—[insert principal investigator last name].

The Law, Policy, and Engineering (LPE) initiative is an interdisciplinary academic and research initiative between Penn State's College of Engineering, Penn State Law, and Penn State's School of International Affairs. The initiative will provide a transformative educational experience for students by actively integrating components of all three disciplines into the curriculum to prepare students for the competitive, interdisciplinary, global workplaces of the future.
